Living Room

 Living Room

Have you ever had so many thoughts for a room that you began to dream about it.....over, and over, and over? Honestly I have too many ideas to fit!! This room, is THE blank canvas room. There are no limitations, irritations or annoyances. Well, now that the awkward window is gone, and that no purpose door has been repurposed.(more to come about that. HINT: Closet)

Original untouched version

No other word comes to mind but "LOVE" when I see this window.
* heart flutters* EVERY time. That top part is like an old lady that is fragile, very fragile. I cringe every time I have to touch it.

great inspiration

What a gorgeous steamer trunk....I love these things! Especially as coffee tables *wink*wink*

So most of you know that I am married to a hunter.Who co-owns a hunting lease business. Who loves his buck mounts and plans on getting more. Who insists that his bow needs a place of honor in the GUEST/OFFICE room. Who chose a green color for said room according to how it looks against his deer mount. Turkey,deer,bears,rabbits.....oh my. To say I compromise on the whole outdoors inside idea is an understatement. To my dear husband : just know I love you ......

I have decided to embrace this lifestyle in my own way.

It's been too long!

So many exciting things to blog about today. First, here is a look at some recent changes to the farmhouse. This post is pretty much just to show the yucky before pictures and the PROGRESS so far. SO FAR......it's already looking brand new to me in so many ways!

Original Entry/ Porch

DISCLAIMER; Warping caused by my bright idea to use the panorama feature on my iPhone.

This area must have been used for(          ) ........YOU fill in the blank! This room left me annoyed for some reason.Every cloud really does have a silver lining.

The RIGHT: side will be a walk in closet for moi.
The LEFT: a SUNROOM!!
Really, who doesn't dream of a sunroom with feminine furniture and natural light?!

The beginning of my closet.
That opening is into the master bedroom. Sliding barn door anyone???
Then That same annoying room I've been talking about yielded an even greater find. SHIPLAP. The original outer wall of the front of the house. See the variations of all the different paint they used?!People fake that kind of finish on planks. We got it for free. FREE! Not only that but there was old beadboard on the ceilings. Unfortunately rotted. I might have shed a few tears over that revelation.

The Sunroom side

I knew I wanted that plank wall but there was the problem of that window.

The window was closed in and those beautiful planks were pieced back together.

This is my FIL who pieced that awesome wall back together. I certainly can't tell there was ever a window there.

Here's just a tease of my inspiration for this little slice of heaven.

My Kitchen Inspiration

Let's talk kitchens!!!

The kitchen is often the center of the home and family. Especially in my case. For this much loved room in my farmhouse I wanted to stay true to the over 100 year old house, but also put a whole lot of  dreams in it.
PROCEED with a VISION.

Scary, I know......
You haven't met my FIL!!! He does it all from brick masonry to general contracting. I am blessed you guys!!

The view from the opposite doorway.

In two days time, the wall with the sink was gone, allowing for a natural flow into what will become the dining area. The poor original wood floors....they had been "updated" many times over.Talk about tarred and feathered. No. Seriously. Tar paper along with  many layers of flooring nails. *SIGH* Tragedy I tell you!! That also came up (mostly).

Now, for some beautiful dreams for this space!

There is something about wood countertops. It brings to mind a lovely, summer day. All billowy clouds, blue skies and a fresh breeze through the open windows. Slicing lemons for a buttery homemade pasta dish. My son sitting to one side as he dumps chocolate into the brownie batter.....chocolate finger prints smeared across the top.

Before you go thinking full country on me(not a bad thing I promise) here is the twist.

Beautiful soft dove grey cabinets. French grey. Old french homestead design.
That mixed brick? Yep. That's going to happen too!!

Here is the rest of this kitchen dream of mine!
ENJOY!

Vent Hoods

I like the shorter corbels for hood vent - so not to take up precious counter space

This kitchen is amazing!!!! My first kitchen inspiration that I love everything about.

I forced paperwhites for indoor blooms at Christmas planting simply in aquarium rock (bulb slightly into the rocks). Keep water just to the bottom of the bulb and your blooms will be gorgeous in 4-7 weeks. Start early if you want them blooming for Christmas gifts. This blog has some cute ideas for gifting and display.

Another shot of the apothecary jars and greenery. Perhaps incorporate tall white candles as well?

Ohh, would love to redo a table like this for my craft room. Love the measuring tape detail

Novogratz 9

To this budding interior designer, the Novogratz duo are the whole package. Fearless and confident in every design move they make, they have once again taken my breath away!!

349.00????  YES!! You saw that right. Not only is this a gorgeous replica of vintage style, it is a futon style sofa. Mr. and Mrs. Novogratz......THANK YOU!!! Do they stop with the amazing style? Nope. Happy Monday. ENJOY!

Let's Do This!!

Resolutions
Such a complicated, stressed out word!
To be fair we all make them. Some of us even stick with those scribbled notes written in a haze of good intentions.Me? I do NOT bother. Here are some truths about myself. Although I strive to be organized.....it rarely happens. Those amazingly intricate meals?? They happen, but so does my disaster of a kitchen afterwards. That leads me to my last flaw - procrastination. Yep....along with the best of us right??

2014-2015
2014 was a messy, demanding and sad year for me. I felt myself evolving, changing into someone I didn't recognize. Change.......it's HARD. I gave up on some lifelong dreams I had while embracing the very important things in life. Cliche? NO. My family, health, and happiness were sacrificed so many times in the interest of my different pursuits.

2015 is a year in which I will do all in my power to pursue peace.....and just plain happiness. I have felt to begin a blog so often within the last 4 years. I am a shy, private person (Only child here!) who balked against the thought of such public exposure. This year I am striving to complete a "bucket" list if you will. Nothing is written on this bucket list....I'm determined to create it as I go along!

Just 2 of my reasons for living.

My one and only baby boy!

A little bit of me~ I'm 27 and love all things beautiful! From fresh herbs in the garden to reupholstering that vintage find.....and everything in between. I love decorating and finally have an old farmhouse to practice my skills on! Expect many updates on that. Also I'm living in a 26 foot R.V. during renovations. Not too bad you say?? Add to that 26 feet of living space, a husband,a beagle puppy (pictured below) and a 7 yr. old boy and see what you get. Oh I forgot!!! We have freezing cold windchills here and frozen pipes do happen. Sounds amazing right??
