Hardwood floors makeover

These poor floors! I could say they had been mistreated, used and abused, or even ruined. The kitchen floors definitely were! As for the others? They had simply been NEGLECTED. I have never been overly fond of that cherry wood finish on anything. The trim, floors, and doors were all stained with that same sticky, thick cherry finish. UGH.
NOW for some before and after shots of these beautiful floors!

If you look close enough , you can see the floors with a coat of wood filler.

The color swatches I had to choose from. This was the BEST part.
Pictured: Mike, the guy that made those poor floors beautiful again!

People, the woodgrain on these floors shocked us all!
Who could have covered up such beautiful wood floors?

The biggest miracle was being able to save the kitchen floors. Years (layers) of  nails, tar paper, and linoleum had to be removed.

 "Newest" layer of linoleum

"Older"  layer of linoleum. At this point we actually doubted that there were wood floors under this mess. This was before we saw the million and one nails embedded in the floor.

TADA!! Miraculous (LOTS of work) happenings around here.

We really found beauty where there was none. To uncover and restore a treasure like these floors was a dream come true for us! The floors came to life , and are now one of my favorite things about
 my home.

We used this finish on the floors. The floors turned out to be Douglas Fir wood, and were unusual in that they had no seams- full length planks.

Although the floors were finished quite a while ago, I am just now sharing the transformation.

Living Room

 Living Room

Have you ever had so many thoughts for a room that you began to dream about it.....over, and over, and over? Honestly I have too many ideas to fit!! This room, is THE blank canvas room. There are no limitations, irritations or annoyances. Well, now that the awkward window is gone, and that no purpose door has been repurposed.(more to come about that. HINT: Closet)

Original untouched version

No other word comes to mind but "LOVE" when I see this window.
* heart flutters* EVERY time. That top part is like an old lady that is fragile, very fragile. I cringe every time I have to touch it.

great inspiration

What a gorgeous steamer trunk....I love these things! Especially as coffee tables *wink*wink*

So most of you know that I am married to a hunter.Who co-owns a hunting lease business. Who loves his buck mounts and plans on getting more. Who insists that his bow needs a place of honor in the GUEST/OFFICE room. Who chose a green color for said room according to how it looks against his deer mount. Turkey,deer,bears,rabbits.....oh my. To say I compromise on the whole outdoors inside idea is an understatement. To my dear husband : just know I love you ......

I have decided to embrace this lifestyle in my own way.
